Position : Quality Control Technician
Location : San Jose, CA
Duration : 6 Months Contract
Total Hours/week : 40.00
1st Shift Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm
Description:
Performs inspection as defined in procedures for specific department such as; Service/Repair Department (Visual & Documentation verification), Calibration Department (Calibrate, Equipment Repair, Data Entry Management) & Receiving Inspection Department (First Article Inspection, Use of Inspection Measuring Tools, etc.).
Ensures that inspections are executed correctly in accordance with the defined product/material specifications.
Records inspection results in a database such as; SAP, BMRAM, ServiceMax, etc.
Reports discrepant material issues verbally & in writing using the Quality Notification process. May be asked to assist in root cause investigation.
Ensures that all the necessary training is completed on time/prior to performing work.
Communicates to the department Manager when procedures need to be updated & Coordinates systems and procedure changes as authorized by QA Management.
Works with the Sr. Calibration Technicians on equipment calibration
Works with the Sr. Calibration Coordinators on calibration record verifications, approval of records, creation of records, etc.
Keeps an organized workplace. Ensures that materials are stored and handled carefully to prevent from damage and quality records are maintained in an organized manner.
Helps in streamling processes && practices for continuous improvement.
Interacts with other functions – manufacturing, engineering, purchasing, SORP, Service, Repair Dept., etc.
Submits monthly department metrics/reports as needed department metrics as needed
Is accountable for promoting Quality and teamwork.
Adheres to Client San Jose's Quality System requirements. This includes the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Departmental Procedures, and Work Instructions.
Keeps abreast of the basic requirements for compliance in own area of work and complies with those requirements.
Participates as required in training on regulatory issues affecting own area of work. Brings regulatory compliance questions/issues to the attention of management.
Follows client IS Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) policies and procedures.
Takes responsibility for safety in immediate work area. Participates in EH&S programs. Notifies supervisor of all observed hazardous conditions or unsafe work practices. May provide recommendations on maintaining the safety of the work environment.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience in inspection of machined parts, plastic components, chassis, cables, assemblies, subassemblies, electrical components, etc.
Experience in documentation review & understands Good Documentation Practices.
Writes Nonconforming Material Report
Can read & interpret engineering drawings or specifications
Good organizational and prioritization skills
Experience in handling multiple tasks
Experience in equipment calibration
Experience in the use of inspection measuring tools
Must possess good problem solving skills
Expeditious & accurate in getting tasks completed.
Experience as a team leader is a plus
Must have a strong attention to detail, the ability to follow procedures, and good oral and written communication skills.
Must be familiar with mathematical calculations / concepts such as significant figures, rounding, averages, standard deviation and unit conversions

Education And Experience
High School Graduate or GED, plus a minimum of 3 years’ experience in inspection/quality assurance
